Win of the Week:

The world experiences the rare Sports Equinox

Nature is healing… for just the 30th time ever, on October 30th, all 4 major US sports had games on the same day. For clarity, the 4 major US sports are:

Baseball
Football
Basketball
Hockey
….

Soccer fans are crying screaming and throwing up rn.

Loss of the Week:

Guillermo del Toro gives us more details on his canned Jabba the Hutt movie

The Pan’s Labyrinth / Shape of Water director compared his scrapped Jabba the Hutt movie to the Scarface of the Star Wars Universe saying, and I quote, “We basically have the same shirt size. I love him, man”. That’s the sort of love that is blatantly missing from the last several Star Wars movies. I really hope he speaks this movie into existence or just stops talking about it all together because its too painful to think of what could have been.

Clown of the Week:

Blueface

Bringing [beat] strippers to a public place filled with children and then clapping (no pun intended) back at a mother when she gets mad? This is why we can’t have nice things.

Date Spot of the Week:

The Cauldron (FiDi)

Cuisine: Create your own cocktails
Pro’s: Interactive, festive
Con’s: Very hard to get a primetime res
Good for Date #: Depends how cool your date is…

Hoss-tume of the Week:

Glenn Powell as Ricky Bobby

Actors were advised not to dress as characters from popular movie/TV properties amidst the actors strike and Glenn did it anyways. This one doubles as a Matrix L.

Hossette-tume of the Week:

Keke Palmer as The Bride of Frankenstein

Her son is crushing it too as Dr. Frankenstein himself.

Couples Costume of the Week:

Channing Tatum & Zoe Kravitz as Rosemary and her baby

Bonus points to the couple for their engagement 👏 👏 👏

Tiny Hoss-tume of the Week:

North West as The Kanye Bear

I’m not as close to the situation as some of you might think, but I can almost assure you that Kim did not pick this one out.

Fantasy Advice of the Week:

For those without a top 5 QB… use your waiver on Will Levis

Forget Wheaties, eat your mayo kids…

Will Levis put the league on notice, throwing for 238 yards and 4 touchdowns in his league debut filling in for an injured Ryan Tannehill. With a quick turnaround into Thursday night, it is likely that we’ll see Levis take the helm again.

While I don’t necessarily advise starting him if you don’t absolutely have to, if he puts up a similar performance this week, it is likely that he will have the QB1 role in the bag. If you’re hurting at QB (cough cough Brock Purdy / Justin Fields owners), it might be the time to roll the dice on a potential cinderella story.

Random Athlete Generator:

Scary Terry (Terry McLaurin), WR, Washington Commanders

Jersey of the Week:

Baltimore Orioles Alternate Jersey

Athlete Costume of the Week:

Miles Garrett as The Creeper from Jeepers Creepers

Is that… yeah that’s Zach Wilson on a stake in his backyard.

Horror Movie of the Week:

Barbarian (2022)

Barbarian was one of the most creative, original, and subtly funny movies I’ve ever seen, let alone for a horror movie.

Writer/Director Zach Cregger of The Whitest Kids U Know fame didn’t know where he was going when he wrote the script. He figured, “If I don’t know what’s going to happen next, the audience sure as Hell won’t know”, and that is never more clean than in the opening sequence with Bill Skarsgärd and Georgina Cambell.

Skarsgärd opening the door to find out his Airbnb has accidentally been double-booked…

The film doesn’t follow typical narrative structure and bounces between protagonists, creating the uneasy sense that no one is safe. They further subvert expectations by having the characters make rational choices- something we seldom see in the genre- adding a layer of realism to the story and, in doing so, amping up the scariness.

At the very least, I implore you to check out the trailer (yes it’s the right link), as it is one of my personal favorites of all time.
