Date Spot of the Week: Laser Wolf (Brooklyn)
“Nestled atop The Hoxton in Brooklyn, Laser Wolf offers a captivating dining experience curated by renowned chef Michael Solomonov. With Middle Eastern flavors and a cozy ambiance, it is the perfect spot to savor standout dishes like the date-harissa wings, lamb kofta, and even a bowl of french fries with tehina ketchup. The menu is structured as a price fixe that includes salatim, a choice of meat/fish as your main, and last but not least brown sugar soft serve ice cream. The salatim features pita, hummus, Moroccan carrots, Turkish brussel sprouts, babaganoosh, and much more. For the main course, the lamb, brisket, and steak are highly recommended. Even though the fries and harissa wings fall outside of the price fixe, they are a very worthy addition, especially for a larger group. Be sure to find a reservation slot that aligns with the sunset to capture some incredible views and photos of the Manhattan skyline while you enjoy your meal.” - The Yellow King

Hoss or Toss: NIL deals in college sports
It appears as if Saban votes “Toss”
Hoss: These schools make millions of dollars off of the hard work that these kids put in, only right that they’re cut in on the action.
Toss: Part of the fun of college sports is that everyone is playing for the love of the game. Paying players definitely poisons the well.
What do you think?
Last week’s results:

Watch of the Week: The Irishman
Key Players:
Martin Scorsese
Robert De Niro
Al Pacino
Joe Pesci
Ray Romano
Genre: Crime
Where to Watch: Netflix
I am extremely late to The Irishman train but finally got a chance to check it out this weekend. It’s an all around insane cast but I must say, Al Pacino really steals the show as the legendary Jimmy Hoffa. Everything is based on a true story which takes it up a few notches. Incredible score/soundtrack as well, will be bumping for the foreseeable future.
Song of the Week: Thru and Thru by The Rolling Stones (1994)
What 2 Watch 4:
-Spaceman starring Adam Sandler and Paul Dano (as a giant talking spider), on Netflix now
Paul Dano already gives me nightmares, now I have to see him as a giant talking spider in space too??
-Owen Wilson playing a washed up pro golfer in an upcoming Apple+ series
-A Bradley Cooper / Will Arnett movie called “Is This Thing On?” (plot unknown)

Read of the Week: Pokémon Go: What Happened to All the Hustlers?
Hoss of the Week: Callan Kilroy
Q: What did you want to be when you were younger?
Callan: Some kids want to be: a doctor, astronaut, pizza delivery man, even a step bro and only one man can do all those professions to perfection. I think we all know who im referencing and I’m not HIM.
I had lofty goals of being a veterinarian to save animals, but I quickly realized vis-a-vis Marley & Me that sometimes the vet has to play the bad guy and end a life. Couple that with my lack of resolve in regard to long study sessions and I realized I was never cut out to be a veterinarian.
All of this to say that my profession of peddling cloud is a means to an end. Spending time doing what I want, when I want, with family and friends is the ultimate goal. Being comfortable along the way is a major plus.
To my younger self - while you won’t be a veterinarian, you’ll grow up to lead a happy life. Stay curious and creative.
Fan Question of the Week: What do you wish you could look back and tell yourself during tough days?
Asked by: Cal Pal
The easy answer here would be that it all works out, even if it doesn’t seem that way in the moment.
The advice that I would impart on myself, however, is to stop focusing so much on my feelings. Oftentimes when we’re down, its hard to not think about anything except that feeling itself, which further perpetuates it. Instead of hyper fixating on how I feel, I would advise myself to shift my focus onto what is within my realm of control and let my negative feelings fade into the background into irrelevancy.
